York Speakers Club was well represented at Eastern District Finals and conference at the Bridge Inn, Wetherby.

Our District President and York member, Mary Donohoe was in great form and chaired the meeting very professionally. She handled the reports of the area presidents and the questions well. She presided over the speech by the National President, Margaret Robertson and kept the meeting on friendly lines even during the debate that followed.

Rosalie Harrop was in charge of the competitions and ran that section of the meeting like clockwork.

Ramana Sundara put up a great performance in the Evaluation competition and was placed a very commendable second. This is a huge achievement at this level as the next stage is the National Final in April.

A sizeable contingent from York attended the meeting to support Ramana.
